What is their greatest negative emotion towards an object, situation, or person in their past?:
One of Zack's greatest frustrations is how events beyond his control have hurt so many people he's cared for -- and beyond that, how he himself has failed to save those same people. He holds no small amount of animosity towards Shinra (the mad scientist Hojo, in particular) for damage the company has done to countless lives (and the Planet itself), but that negativity mostly turns on himself. "Angeal, am I really not capable of saving anyone?" is a question he asks himself after being a test subject for four years and getting himself and his friend Cloud out of a basement laboratory. He regrets not being able to help Angeal, Genesis, and yes, Sephiroth too. They all went mad on his watch, and he wasn't able to prevent any of it.
How aware are they of this negative emotion, and how do they act on it in canon?:
Generally speaking, Zack tries not to dwell on this stuff (and therefore is only somewhat aware of how scarred he is). Zack chooses instead to push through his own doubts and negative feelings because if he stopped moving, he wouldn't be able to keep going. Even when things seemed hopeless after his and Cloud's escape from Shinra manor, he still tried to be upbeat and talked to Cloud in a positive way. He fought Sephiroth even though his trust had been betrayed, and nothing he said reached his former friend. He fought Genesis and Angeal, despite how much it pained him. Zack's determination does not allow for anything less.
What is their greatest virtue?:
Zack Fair has many virtues -- courage, determination, strength of mind and heart -- but his greatest is his loyalty to his friends. From the very beginning of Crisis Core, Zack demonstrates this loyalty. When Sephiroth says Angeal has betrayed them along with Genesis, Zack refuses to accept it and says Angeal would never do such a thing. He persists in trying to get his mentor to see reason, even when Angeal rebuffs his efforts. Furthermore, during his and Cloud's escape, Zack refuses to leave his friend behind. Cloud is sick and unable to help him, but Zack takes great pains to stay with his friend and protect him even though it hampers his own ability to evade his enemies.
How aware are they of their virtue, and how do they act on it in canon?:
Zack is very aware of it. He made a conscious choice not to abandon his friend Cloud, even when they were surrounded by Shinra's army. He could have cut and run, but he did not. Instead, he hid Cloud behind some rocks and went out to fight an entire army by himself, even knowing that battle was likely to be his last. Zack Fair laid down his life for the sake of his friend, and he would do the same again if it meant saving the life of someone he cared about.

CRAU, Canon AU: N/A

Canon Abilities/Powers:
- Mako-enhanced human: Zack is, in layman's terms, a super soldier. The Mako infusion he was given when he became part of SOLDIER makes him stronger, faster, and more agile than the average human being. SOLDIERs can cleave through steel, create shockwaves with their blades, and easily outpace even the best Olympic athlete. His enhanced metabolism allows him to recover faster from wounds than an ordinary human would (though it is by no means fast enough to be considered regeneration). He can withstand greater amounts of punishment than a normal human, as well, but he is far from invincible. (See: his death in Crisis Core.)
- SOLDIER: In addition to being physically enhanced, Zack was part of an elite fighting force known as SOLDIER. He's well-versed in the ways of combat, infiltration, and war, and his expertise lies both in wielding swords and magic.
- Magic: Zack has the ability to wield Materia (crystallized Mako). This allows him to cast magic spells and to bring forth Summons (powerful creatures that occupy almost demigod-like status in FF7), as needed. He will only come into the game with one materia (Cure), which is listed in the Items section.
- Digital Mind Wave: The Limit Break system for Crisis Core, it is directly influenced by Zack's emotions. The more powerful his emotions, the stronger the effect of the attack, whether it be a Summon or a physical/magical attack. Here is a list of the attacks he uses:1) Chain Slash - Physical attack against one enemy.
2) Octaslash - Eight physical attacks against one enemy.
3) Rush Assault - Two sequences of seven physical attacks, then a final diving attack. Each of the three sequences has different power and can hit a different enemy (in a small group of 2 or 3 enemies). Ignores Vitality (defense), final hit inflicts Stun (with permission from other players), may grant Endure status (prevents Zack's actions from being interrupted when he is attacked by an enemy, and stops him from falling over when hit by a strong attack).
4) Air Strike - Physical attack against all enemies.
5) Lucky Stars - Gives the critical status making all attacks Critical Hits for a short period of time.
6) Healing Wave - Fully heals HP, MP, and AP, breaks limits, heals status ailments and grants temporary invincibility for a short period of time.
7) Meteor Shots - Magical attack against all enemies (not a whole battlefield, just a reasonable radius).
8) Apocalypse - Magical attack on all enemies (again, within a certain radius, not a whole battlefield).
NOTE: If any of these need to be nerfed, just let me know!
- Zack also has the unique ability of being able to copy the Limit Breaks of others, which is why he uses attacks attributed to other characters in Crisis Core -- Octaslash and Rush Assault, for example, were learned from Sephiroth and Angeal, respectively. Obviously, he will not be copying anyone else's attacks without 1) express permission from other players and 2) unless it makes sense that he'd be able to learn it. Techniques and attacks that fall more in line with what he already knows (sword techniques, martial arts, etc) will be easier to learn. Any new skills he acquires will follow a reasonable timeline.
